Questions & Answers
- What is Model United Nations (Model UN)?
Model UN is an educational activity where students simulate the United Nations. Participants represent different countries, discuss global challenges, and work together to develop solutions. It's a great way to strengthen communication, leadership, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Do I need any experience to join?
Not at all! Model UN welcomes beginners. You don't need to know anything about international politics or the United Nations to get started. We'll help you learn along the way.
- What will happen at the interest meeting?
We'll introduce Model UN, explain how the organization works, discuss opportunities for future activities and conferences, and answer your questions. It's an opportunity to learn more without making a commitment.
- Do I have to be good at public speaking or debate?
Absolutely not! Model UN is a place to develop those skills. Whether you're already comfortable speaking in front of others or want to build your confidence, you're welcome.
- What if I can't attend the first interest meeting?
No problem! We're hosting interest meetings on October 28 and November 4. Our regular meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays at 1:00 PM in the Library Special Collections Room.
- Will there be opportunities to attend conferences or compete with other colleges?
That's one of our goals! We're working to build opportunities for students to participate in Model UN simulations, connect with other colleges, and potentially attend conferences. We'll discuss our plans and gather student input during the interest meetings.
